As we sat in the open air eating area enjoying our Tillamook Mudslide, the rumble of thunder and the flashes of lightning in the distance decided our plans for the rest of the day. No crabbing for you!
The pièce de ré·sis·tance of the roadtrip was to go crabbing at Kelly’s Brighton Marina in Nehalem Bay, which was made even more enticing by the delicious dungeness crab benedict from the previous breakfast. It could probably still have been done but the idea of sitting on the dock (in the rain) waiting for crabs to be tricked into entering the crab nets was far less appealing than being in a dinghy out on the bay for two hours. I guess we would have to just visit another time, under preferably better conditions.
