Interspersed amongst the throng of jovial tourists and well-dressed locals that crowd the steps of arguably the greatest (not to mention cheapest) viewpoint in all of Paris, the Sacre Coeur, is a growing presence that the French, like many other European countries, have been struggling with; the influx of immigrants from war-torn countries. Stuck in a state of limbo, the newcomers are not recognized as citizens and therefore struggle to find gainful employment. Some have resorted to petty thievery while others have flocked to the popular tourist attractions to sell mass-produced trinkets.
