Truth be told, I looked forward to purchasing the optional Coral Island Tour with Seafood Lunch; we would get a chance to see what was underneath our fellow tour member’s scruffy mid-western beefcake facade.
The side trip was a slight let down though. The sky was overcast. Rather than disembarking on the actual Coral Island (Ko Lan), we were dropped off at the deserted horseshoe-shaped one just north. The hottie was in the water up to this neck most of the time and when he was not, he was wrapped in a towel. Being the avid snorkelers that we were, Bob and I were both dismayed and mystified by the lack of any underwater creatures. To top things off, the clouds let loose as we headed back to the Long Beach Garden Hotel & Pavilions; our soggy cavalcade was greeted by perplexed looks from the hotel’s sunbathers.
The most thrilling part of the excursion was the high-speed boat ride to Ko Sak island.
